This year's Youth Appreciation Day will be held at the Youth Center on Wednesday, May 30th from 6-8pm. Youth Appreciation Day is a night for us to recognize the outstanding work and achievements accomplished by our Youth Center volunteers. The night is filled with recognition awards, gifts, a cookout, and wise words from a guest speaker. This event is by invitation only, and is held for middle school and high school students that volunteer in our leadership programs. We hope to see all of our volunteers there! This year's guest speaker is Youth Center alumni, Kevin Reyes! This NA alumni had a decorative career as a North Andover High School Scholar Athlete contributing to the Football, Track and Baseball programs. Kevin continued his academic and athletic endeavors at Bates College studying social psychology and playing all four years with the football team. Presently, Kevin aspires to work as a Nurse and is currently working in the Emergency Department at Mass. General Hospital.
|
| Throughout his time in North Andover, Kevin would like to highlight his volunteer work and membership with the North Andover Youth Services program as "one of the most positive experiences that I have ever had and truly grateful to be a part of". |

Writing Coaching for College Essays |
 | YourBestFoot, LLC is offering one-on-one writing coaching for the college essay. The program is taught by Nicole Downer, a well respected English teacher who specializes in creative and expository writing. | The program commences with a series of lessons in organization, structure, thesis, diction, metaphor, allusion, economy of language, connotation, style and voice, and students compose their essays step by step, applying these skills as they go. Then the coaching switches gears to editing, teaching students the craft of editing a document to strengthen language, analyze "big picture" elements, and copy edit. Simply put, YourBestFoot, LLC teaches students to write a memorable college admissions essay because its program teaches the skills to create and edit powerful prose.
