Join Ryan for "Pond Hockey" on Monday.  Black Knights is in its final few weeks, who will be the champion?  All Summer Fun applications are due by this Friday, 2/12.  Only 2 more weeks of ice skating at Brooks.  The Youth Center will be awarding 2 $1,000 scholarships to North Andover High School Seniors, check out our website for details.  The Youth Center will be Closed next Monday, 2/15 for Presidents Day, our home page lists plenty of activities that will be happening during February Vacation.   Come on down, hang out with your friends and have some fun!

The Joseph N. Hermann Youth Center will be awarding two scholarships of $1,000.00 each to students who reside in North Andover, meet or exceed the criteria of the guidelines of the scholarship, Enter by March 26, 2010 and are selected by the Committee on or about May 1, 2010.  Notification will be no later than May 14, 2010.

Youth Council sponsored this event to introduce 3rd graders to the Youth Center.  100 students participated in face painting, crafts, games, food and plenty of fun.  They were able to hang out with their friends and get a feel for what it will be like next year when they can be part of the Saturday afternoon crowd.

The Snowsport Scouts are a group of members whose sole purpose in the winter months is to find the best and freshest snowfall and make some tracks.  Whether they are the first tracks at the downhill resort, the best backcountry line through a perfect birch tree glade, X-C ski tracks across a frozen lake, snowshoes tracks up a mountain, or simply the exhilarating tracks of the first sled run down the local hill, these people are truly dedicated to the white stuff.

The Technology Club was created this fall.   A small group decided they were interested in learning to build web sites that people would enjoy.   We'll be meeting every two weeks to work on the web sites and learn things together.

You do not need to be technical to join.    The only requirement is an interest in either developing a web site or maintaining an existing web site with interesting content such as stories, photos, polls etc.

The Youth Center is open for 4th and 5th graders on Saturdays from 1 - 4.  
The cost is $3 as a drop-in fee.

This 3-hour block is their opportunity to come to the Center, see their friends from different schools, climb the rock wall, and take part in various planned activities! The skate park is also open at this time for the 4th & 5th graders, weather permitting (when in season) and only with a signed skate waiver, which can be found at the front desk.

The staff is very enthusiastic to begin the year and we look forward to seeing you on Saturdays!

Parent Volunteers Needed!  How you can become involved!

The Joseph N. Hermann Youth Center, Inc. is looking for some new members for our Board of Directors.  Our organization is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and our primary mission is to support the youth of North Andover.  We currently have a great team in place but we are always looking for new members who have the desire to become more involved and who can bring fresh ideas to our group.  The time commitment is minimal but the satisfaction you receive can be great.

One of the amazing things I’ve learned by being on the Board is that nearly everyone who I’ve asked for help is willing to get involved or help out in some way.  In many of these instances, they have wanted to get involved and they are thrilled that someone has approached them.  Well, now I am asking you.  You may have wanted to get more involved and you think you have something to offer.  However, you have never taken that final step to sign up.  We need your help to keep our Board vibrant and dynamic.

We can always use input from people with backgrounds in Fundraising, Marketing, Public Relations, Education, Accounting and Information Technology.  However, any adult with the desire to get involved probably has the fresh ideas and input that we need to continue the success of our organization.  I would be happy to speak with anyone who has an interest in our Board and Youth Center.
