We wish all of the Moms a Happy Mother's Day - hope you enjoyed your special day! There will be a 7th & 8th grade Teenco dance this Friday night. We will be closing at 4:45 to set-up. Our online job bank has been updated, check it out, hard copies are available at the front desk. Sign-up now for the Girls Volley Tournament which will take place at the end of the month. Our skatepark is open (weather permitting) Monday - Friday 2:30 - 6:00 and Saturdays 1:00 - 6:00, you must have a signed waiver. Practice here and then join Ryan on the next Skate Committee Adventure to Newburyport Skate Park. Come on down to the Center! |

The Youth Center is having a Red Sox/Yankees raffle. Come to the Youth Center to get your tickets for a chance to this sold out game! Drawing will be held on June 27th. Game: Friday, July 25 at 7:05 p.m. Seats: Section 15, Row 5, Seats 8 and 9 Grandstand

Despite the four days of bad weather the Youth Services Carnival was not a total loss. We are happy to announce that we still raised $13,000.00 towards summer programming. We would like to thank all of the booth volunteers and all the Town Departments who helped make it as successful as it was. A very special thank you to Carrie Crouch for being our Carnival Coordinator. We very much appreciate Carrie's efforts year in and year out. We are ordering four days of Sun for Carnival 2009! |
The Youth Center is please to announce that Lauren Hubbel, Stefanie Willis, Brienne Toomey and AJ Serrano are the recipients of this year's Joseph N. Hermann Inc. Scholarships. All four will be presented with their scholarship at Youth Appreciation Day on June 9, 2008. Congrats to our winners! |

Any day is a great day for a Skate Competition, especially if there's no school. We had two separate divisions, skateboarding and roller blading. Each division competed in three different events to determine the winners. Youth Center Membership Price Reduced |

Starting April 1, 2008 the Youth Center membership will be REDUCED to $45 for the remainder of the membership year. Good thru August 2008. ALL THOSE THAT PLAN ON ATTENDING THE YOUTH CENTER MUST REGISTER EACH SCHOOL YEAR.

Design work has been completed and the Stevens Pond Renovation project is on schedule for a late June completion. The project includes a new building, which will house a lifeguard office, storage, bathroom and changing room facilities along with a vending area for cold drinks and snacks. A little bit of snow didn't stop these dedicated volunteers from tearing down the old structure. Click here to see the photo album. Thank you!

Celebrating 20 Years of Teenco Dances |
|
This December we will celebrate twenty years of Teenco Dances. The first dance was held on December 29th 1987 at the middle school cafeteria. 125 middle school students paid $5 for 3 hours of music by by big hair bands and early rap artists. Rick Gorman who ran the first dance is still here along with DJ John Charow who was a Merrimack College senior in 1987. Rick has more gray hair and John has very little hair left but both have been at every dance since that December Day. We will be celebrating this occasion but we are not sure how yet. Margaret Slater, our long time head of the centers beautification committee, passed away last winter but her work is being carried on by Carolyn Williams. Youth Center Hours on Half Days |
|
The Youth Center opens at 11:30 on all early release curriculum days. On these days the Grandstand is always open and the popular "Half Court Shot on Half Day" is held at 1:00. On full day curriculum days the center opens at 12:00. The Youth Center is definately the place to be on half days. |
