difficult economic times, your support for the Annual Fund Campaign is extremely important as we try to maintain the services and programs provided through the Youth Center. We are extremely fortunate to have this wonderful organization in our community. The programs that are provided both within and outside the building provide numerous services to the children of North Andover. When I explain our youth center to residents of other communities, they are amazed that we are able to provide these services and that we have been able to build and maintain such an award-winning facility. We had the good fortune of past community leaders and private donors who worked hard to bring this vision to a reality. It is critical that we maintain this vision as we continue to improve the lives of our children and set a great example as a community that values our youth and the potential they hold. Some of the key services that we provide are: - Nearly 100 programs are run annually supporting over 3,000 of our Town's youth. In addition, all outside program costs and all operating expenses are funded from membership fees and donations.
- The Youth Center is the main location for youth-at-risk programs dealing with anorexia/bulimia, drug abuse and alcohol intervention.
- The Youth Center organizes the Thanksgiving and Holiday Drives, which provide needy families with much needed meals and gifts, as well as numerous other programs that exemplify the great community that we have here in North Andover.
- A large number of children cannot afford the $75 membership fee. The Youth Center's policy is that no child will be denied membership due to his or her inability to afford this fee. As in past years, the Youth Center provides scholarships to over 100 members who could not otherwise afford to join and participate in its programs.
In addition, our physical facility requires maintenance and capital improvements that cannot be funded by our Town due to budgetary constraints. During this past year we funded the project to paint the exterior of the building and we will soon need to replace the floor in the main lobby for wear and safety reasons. These programs and facility expenses are vital to continuing the key services needed by our youth. We appreciate the past support from our community and we hope that you will be able to help us in our campaign this year. Consider the value that the Youth Center and its unique programs bring to North Andover. Please make the decision to keep our community strong and support our youth.
