The following business and individuals were honored in 2011. The 2012 honorees will be listed soon. | Watts (Business) | Watts becomes the first business we honor at our annual Taste of North Andover. In 1988 Watts was one of the first companies to donate seed money to fund the Youth Services Department. 23 years later Watts is still supporting the Youth Center in a variety of ways. Over the years they have supported our summer concert series, they have contributed funds to our annual drive as well as our fundraisers. Through donations from Watts we were able to do renovations at Stevens Pond as well as provide much needed new equipment for the Center. “Our partnership with Watts has been truly special according to Rick Gorman and we look forward to our continual relationship with this outstanding company”.
| | Deb Lurvey | Deb has been a 17 year volunteer of the Youth Center. Deb is quite frankly the architect behind our annual fundraisers. “From the years raising money to build the youth center to the last ten years raising funds to help offset costs Deb has been instrumental in us raising hundreds of thousands of dollars” according to Rick Gorman. Deb has found her niche on how to help the youth center. Her ability to plan and organize is second to none. Deb has also served a number of years on our scholarship committee. Deb is married to Bob and has three children that were active in Youth Center programming.
| | Donna Phaneuf | Donna’s involvement with the Youth Center goes back 18 years. She has held numerous positions on the Joseph N. Hermann Youth Center Inc. Whatever the job or initiative Donna was always there to get her hands dirty and make a difference for the youth of North Andover. Rick Gorman states that “Donna is a humble individual who volunteers for all the right reasons. She believes in our kids and our community”. We have been very lucky to have Donna volunteering for as longs as she has. The youth center would not be what it is today without people like Donna Phaneuf. Donna is married to Chris and has three children that have belonged to the center.
| Don Romano
| Don Romano has spent endless hours as the Youth Centers volunteer technology coordinator. Don has been instrumental in the creation of our website, our membership program as well as meeting all of our technology needs. Don is a long standing member of the Joseph N. Hermann Youth Center Inc, where he dedicates an incredible amount of time with Newsletters, updates, mass emails as well as our yearly fundraisers and annual fund drive. Rick Gorman states that “Don is the main reason we are able to keep our members and our families up to date with everything going on with the center. You cannot put a price tag on what Don is worth to this agency”. Don is married to Deb and has two children Alex and Angela.
| John Warden (7 year program volunteer)
| John has been a ten year program volunteer at the Joseph N. Hermann Youth Center. He has coordinated Basketball Drills and Skills for middle and high school aged students. He has coached the Youth Center yearly entries into the Greater Lawrence Hoops for Hope League and he has offered his services as a basketball trainer to youth center youth. According to Rick Gorman “John Warden is the consummate volunteer as he gives so much time and energy teaching young members how to play basketball while also giving each member life skills which go beyond basketball. John is married to Pam and his four children have all been active members of the Youth Center.
