Senior Youth Council

Senior Youth Council is a high school leadership group open to high school seniors, whose goal is to organize and participate in projects that help people in the community, along with coordinating events and fundraisers throughout the year. Senior Youth Council meets on Wednesday evenings at the Youth Center! Senior Youth Council 2016-2017 Activities

It has been a busy few months for this year's Senior Youth Council group! They hit the ground running in the fall volunteering at various community organizations, including cooking a dinner for the adults and children living at the Lazarus House Family Shelter in Lawrence, and serving at the Lawrence Boys and Girls Club annual Thanksgiving Dinner for the club members. They rounded off the fall by running their 1st annual High School Boys Flag Football Tournament at the NAHS Walsh Stadium. Congratulations to the winners of the tournament, Nick, Ben, Steven, Evan, Jon and Sam! This event raised funds for the Youth Center's annual Holiday Gift Drive, and SYC used the money raised to purchase hats, gloves, mittens, and socks for the children sponsored in the Gift Drive.

So far this winter, SYC volunteered their time at Project Home Again in Lawrence, an organization that collects and distributes donations of household items and furniture to low-income families. They also served and cleaned at the Cor Unum Meal Center in Lawrence.

Senior Youth Council is looking already hard at work planning the 3rd annual High School Job Fair, held at the Youth Center on Wednesday, May 3rd!
