LIFE LESSONS: Leadership Speaker Series - North Andover Youth & Recreation Services, with help from a generous grant from 3Com Corporation will be sponsoring a series of regular guest speakers from all walks of life who will share their memories, thoughts, experience, and advice to North Andover’s young adult community. HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS GROUP: Our Girls Group is geared towards females at the high school who could benefit from a social/support group that focuses on exploring personal strengths and weaknesses, values, feeling, positive decision making, handling of conflict situations at home/school, relationships (peer, family, community), and several other topics. Girls Groups meet once a week during the school day.
BOYS GROUP: Our Boys Group is geared towards middle school males who could benefit from a social/support group that focuses on exploring personal strengths and weaknesses, values, feeling, positive decision making, handling of conflict situations at home/school, relationships (peer, family, community), and several other topics. Boys Group meets once a week during the school day. MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS GROUPS: We have two Middle School Girls Groups, one is an in-school group that runs during a lunch period once a week and the other is an after-school group that runs once a week in the evenings at the Youth Center. These groups deal with today’s issues around relationships (friends, family, school), decision making skills, goals, self/body image, and a variety of other topics that are of concern during the middle school years. PARENT AWARENESS PROGRAM: Youth & Recreation Services, in collaboration with local agencies sponsors on-going parent programs . If there are programs you would like to see please contact Rick Gorman
YOUTH TRACKING & OUTREACH: The purpose of our Tracking and Outreach program is to offer support and guidance to the youth of North Andover. Tracking/Outreach is not counseling or therapy, but rather time spent between a Youth & Recreation Services staff and one participant. The time spent together may include a recreational activity, having lunch, or just talking and getting to know one another. Tracking/Outreach should be a positive and enjoyable experience for all those involved.
FAMILY MEDIATION SERVICES: Our support services staff are often called upon to act as mediators for family or peer issues. The staff at Youth Services are trained mediators. WE ARE HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE THAT THERAPIST KIMBERLY FESTA CROTTY WILL BE WORKING WITH US EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 2007. KIM WILL BE PROVIDING INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING AND FAMILY MEDIATION AT THE CENTER
CRISIS INTERVENTION: Youth & Recreation Services Crisis Intervention work is quite broad. Families and children in crisis can contact Youth & Recreation Services for immediate information and possible referral services.
