Rick has been Executive Director of Youth & Recreation Services since it began in 1988.    He received his Masters Degree in Community Social Psychology from the University of Massachusetts - Lowell in 1993 and received his Bachelors degree in Government and Pre-Law from Suffolk University in 1984. 

Rick has been the recipient of numerous local, state, and national awards in his past 25 years with Youth Services.   In 1993 he received the prestigious Lord Baden Powell Award for Distinguished Citizenship.   In 2005 Rick was inducted into the ABA (Academic Basketball Awareness Camp) Hall of Fame. Rick's biggest accomplishment was overseeing the planning and building of the state of the art Joseph N. Hermann Youth Center which opened in 2000.

Rick is responsible for managing the Youth Center, creating, implementing and overseeing programs, conducting long range planning, capital improvement and fundraising, as well as supervising staff members and volunteers. Rick also oversees the Town's Field Commision, Stevens Pond Bathing Beach and Summer Childrens' and Concert Series. Although Rick’s responsibilities lie mostly in administration these days, he does find time to facilitate some programming such as, the North Andover Fall Ball League and the collaborative Core 4 program.

Rick’s passion lies in kids and  youth sports.   He has coached numerous teams at various levels and is often consulted by youth sports organizations on issues from philosophy, character development, team building and training. Rick is also founder of the widely popular New England Storm Basketball Club as well as the critically acclaimed B.S.T Training program.

In his spare time Rick enjoys running skill development clinics, reading, spending time with the fam, working out, competing in fitbit challenges, listening to Bruce and following his beloved Spurs, Celtics, Raiders and Yankees. Rick is also working on a number of writing projects and is an avid blogger and contributor to a number of basketball websites.  Rick is married to Nancy and has two children Michael and Lyndsey.

Demi has been involved at the Youth Center since her high school years, where she started by volunteering in leadership programs like Youth Council and Diversity Committee. At that time, Demi began working for Youth Services part time in the building and as a Summer Fun counselor. She worked at Summer Fun for five years, starting at the Atkinson site with the 1st and 2nd graders, and going on to become co-coordinator of the Drummond site, working with 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. Since then, Demi has held many different roles in the building working with various age groups in after school programs and field trips, has worked as coordinator on Saturdays for 4th and 5th graders, as Rick's administrative assistant, and now as Assistant Director!

Demi graduated from Bentley University in 2010 with a BS in Marketing and a Psychology minor. When she's not working, Demi loves to read, watch movies and musicals, take karate and kickboxing, and spend time with her family and friends.

Justin joined the NAYRS team in March 2016. He has been involved in a variety of recreational roles, such as a Phillips Academy Soccer Instructor, working for the Billerica and Danvers Recreation Departments, and the Billerica Boys and Girls Club, where he was a long time staff member of over 8 years. During this time time he discovered his passion, being a respected role model and working with children and teens. He began by working as a staff member at the Club's after school program working with grades K-5, as well as working with 7th & 8th graders during summer camp. He has had many different roles in recreation, such as mentor, homework help, activity organizer, and athletics manager.

Justin graduated from Salem State University with a BS in Recreation Management. Justin loves to be active and enjoys watching/playing sports such as football, baseball, basketball and hockey, Go B's! In his spare time he likes the outdoors, enjoys cookouts, the beach, and fishing in the summer!

Diana joined the NAYRS team in June 2016. Prior to working at the youth center, Diana worked at the Billerica Boys and Girls Club. She began working with children in grades K-5 at the Club’s after school program and summer camp. During this time, her passion for working with children was presented and Diana pursued that by getting into the field of Education. Diana graduated from UMass Lowell in 2014 with her BS in Psychology. After that, she went to Merrimack College where she completed her Master’s degree in Elementary Education. While working on her Master’s degree, Diana completed her student teaching at Thomson Elementary School and Sargent Elementary School right here in North Andover! After receiving her Master’s degree, Diana taught fifth grade, middle school, in Lawrence. Many of Diana’s roles in her previous jobs include being a role model for the children, planning activities and lessons for students, and supporting the children with their personal, social, and emotional needs.

In her spare time, Diana loves to spend time with friends and family, dance, go for a swim, workout at the gym or at crossfit, and play underwater hockey. She is currently training for the 2018 USA women’s underwater hockey team to represent the USA at Worlds! Feel free to ask Diana about underwater hockey!

Mike was a frequent flier of the North Andover Youth and Recreation Services growing up, participating in the middle school dances, TEENCO and Youth Council as well as eventually working as a Summer Fun Camp Counselor. Upon graduating North Andover High School, Mike went on to continue studying Recreation Management at the University of New Hampshire. After college, Mike was hired as a tour guide, leading 1-3 week camping trips all over the United States visiting major cities and national parks for a company called PEAK Adventure Travel. After getting his travelling fix, Mike went on to work as a Project Coordinator for Newburyport Youth Services and then Resident Services Director at Wood Ridge Homes in North Andover. Mike is extremely excited to be back working at his old stomping grounds here at the North Andover Youth Center.  


Molly Malandrino - Holiday Giving Coordinator

Molly has been involved with the Youth Center since her Middle School years.  She has worked many jobs and been an active member in  many programs.  In September of 2013, she starting working as Support Services Coordinator. She loved working hard on the Thanksgiving and Holiday drives, Helping Hands and getting to know all the kids involved in the Youth Center. After receiving a BA in Sociology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in May 2011, Molly moved on to working with adults with developmental disabilities in social and day programs. Though Molly is no longer working full time at the Youth Center, she is still involved here as a Program Coordinator for the Core 4 leadership group, and coordinating our Thanksgiving and Holiday Drives. In her free time, Molly likes to cook, go to the beach and loves all things leopard print!


Tod Workman - Volunteer Building Supervisor

By day Tod is the senior custodian at the North Andover Middle school but whenever something breaks, the walls need painting, electrical and plumbing issues arise its Tod Workman we call. Tod is a jack of all trades and always wears a smile. A graduate of North Andover High school where he excelled on the championship Wrestling teams in the mid eighties.  Tod is married to Lisa and the father of two young children Leah and Austin.

Don's first job is that of a Senior Database Architect at Philips Healthcare.   However, as a "second job" Don tends to various technology support issues at the Youth Center.   Whether it be providing support for broken staff PC's, networking issues, the computer lab, web site support or anything else, Don is available 24 X 7 to assist.

Don has been associated with the Youth Center for over 5 years since becoming a member of the Board of Directors.  

Don lives in North Andover and is married to Debbie Romano and has two children in the school system: Alex and Angela.
