Rick has been Executive Director of Youth & Recreation Services since it began in 1988.    He received his Masters Degree in Community Social Psychology from the University of Massachusetts - Lowell in 1993 and received his Bachelors degree in Government and Pre-Law from Suffolk University in 1984. 

Rick has been the recipient of numerous local, state, and national awards in his past 23 years with Youth Services.   In 1993 he received the prestigious Lord Baden Powell Award for Distinguished Citizenship.   In 2005 Rick was inducted into the ABA (Academic Basketball Awareness Camp) Hall of Fame. Rick's biggest accomplishment was overseeing the planning and building of the state of the art Joseph N. Hermann Youth Center in 2000

Rick is responsible for managing the Youth Center, creating, implementing and overseeing programs, conducting long range planning, capital improvement and fundraising, as well as supervising staff members and volunteers. Rick also oversees the Town's Field Commision, Stevens Pond Bathing Beach and Summer Childrens and Concert Series. Although Rick’s responsibilities lie mostly in administration these days, he does find time to facilitate some programming such as, the REEBOK Fall Ball and the Juvenile Diversion Program.

Rick’s passion lies in youth sports.   He has coached numerous teams at various levels and is often counsulted by youth sports organizations on issues from philosophy, character development, team building and training. Rick is presently the Development Director for the Merrimack Valley Youth Basketball League and Vice President of Methuen Youth Basketball. Rick is also founder and Director of the widely popular New England Storm AAU Basketball program as well as the critically acclaimed B.S.T. Hoops Academy.

In his spare time Rick enjoys running basketball skills clinics,reading, spending time with the fam, working out, playing hoop with the Wildcats, listening to Bruce and following his beloved Celtics, Raiders and Yankees. Rick is also working on a number of writing projects like his research for a book on youth basketball entitled Broken Dreams.  Rick has been married to Nancy for 21 years and has two children, Michael (18) a freshman at Anna Maria College and Lyndsey (14) a 9th grader at Greater Lawrence Tech.

Michelle joined our team in April, 2008.  She graduated from The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester with a degree in Political Science in 2000. While there she was a Resident Assistant, where her nights involved running programs and counseling fellow college students as needed.


Prior positions have involved working with high school students including teaching test preparation courses, career development and college consultation. She is very excited to join the Youth & Recreation Services team and provide support to both middle school and high school students.

In her spare time, Michelle stays active by running, playing golf and spending time with her husband Erminio.  She also enjoys being involved in charity work and over the past few years has done work for St. Jude Children’s Hospital’s Fitness for a Cure Event and the American Cancer Society. She is excited to bring her passion and energy to the Holiday Drives and other programs for North Andover Youth & Recreation Services.

Josh joined the team in November 2007 after graduating from Endicott College with a BS in Sports Management in May 2006. Since Josh has been here, he has organized and run many popular programs such as the Black Knights Winter League, Tournament of Champions, and Merrimack Valley Duel. Josh is also the founder of the non-profit Fundamental Hoops. He organizes the biggest Christmas tournament in New England as well as hosting many other basketball events in the winter and spring season. When Josh is not on the clock, he is either listening to his favorite band Dave Matthews or watching his favorite sports teams in action. In Belichick We Trust.

Micaela Tetrault - Program Coordinator

Micaela has had many roles at the Youth Center from part-time building staff to Summer Fun coordinator to her newest role as a full-time program coordinator, which started in September 2010. Micaela is currently co-leader of two high school leadership groups, Youth Council and the Walk for Youth Committee. She also runs Teenco Dance Committee for 8th graders, along with various other after school programs at the Youth Center for middle school children. Micaela has worked hard to bring her passion and ideas to all of her programs.

Micaela graduated from Salem State College in December 2009 with a BS in Psychology.  In her spare time Micaela loves to spend time with her family and friends, follow the Boston Celtics and devote as much time as possible to her unbeatable fantasy football team!

Demi Tetrault - Program Coordinator

Demi has been involved at the Youth Center since her high school years, where she started by volunteering in leadership programs like Youth Council and Diversity Committee. At that time, Demi began working for Youth Services part time in the building and as a Summer Fun counselor. She worked at Summer Fun for five years, starting at the Atkinson site with the 1st and 2nd graders, and going on to become co-coordinator of the Drummond site, working with 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. Since then, Demi has held many different roles in the building working with various age groups in after school programs and field trips. Presently, Demi holds the position of co-coordinator on Saturdays for 4th and 5th graders, she runs Flag Football for middle schoolers, and is Rick's administrative assistant.

Demi graduated from Bentley University in 2010 with a BS in Marketing and a Psychology minor. When she's not working, Demi loves to read, watch movies and musicals, play tennis, and spend time with her family and friends.

Lauren Hubbell - Program  Coordinator

Lauren has been involved with North Andover Youth Services since her middle school years; she was a member of the Teenco dance committee and went on to receive the Michael Ventresca Memorial Leadership Award.  Lauren still remained active with the Youth Center into her high school years taking part in community service groups. She then went on to work part time building hours during her senior year of high school in 2008, and that same year received the Michael Ventresca Memorial Leadership award for the second time. Lauren has also worked at Summer Fun's Atkinson site with 1st and 2nd graders for five years, first as a counselor, then assistant coordinator, and in summer 2011 she became one of the Atkinson Summer Fun coordinators. 
Lauren is currently working as one of the Saturday Coordinators at the Youth Center while she attends Wheelock College in Boston, where she is studying Counseling Psychology and Special Education. In her spare time Lauren loves to surround herself with friends and family.

Brittney Iovanella - Program  Coordinator

Brittney has been involved with the North Andover Youth and Recreation Services since she was in middle school. She started working here her senior year of high school. She went on to become a Summer Fun Counselor for the Drummond site, working with third, fourth and fifth graders. After two years of working as a camp counselor, Brittney became one of the assistant coordinators of Drummond.  She has helped run a few programs, such as the TEENCO dance committee and two high school leadership groups, Youth Council and the Walk for Youth Committee. Brittney continues to work at the Youth Center throughout the year while also attending school.
Brittney went to Northern Essex Community college for two years and has been attending the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where she is studying Psychology. She loves working with children and hopes to pursue a career with this. In Brittney’s spare time she enjoys spending time with her friends and family.

Molly Malandrino - Program  Coordinator

Molly has been involved with the Youth Center since her middle school and high school years. She has been part of various groups including Teenco Dance Committee, Give Back and Diversity Committee. In the past  summers, she has gone on to be the coordinator of the Children's Summer Concert Series and co-coordinator of Atkinson Summer Fun. Molly has also been a coordinator of Saturdays at the Youth Center for 4th and 5th graders.

Molly graduated in May 2011 from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a Bachelors degree in Sociology and a minor in Education. She is looking to work with children in her future career and is excited where life will take her.

Ted has been a part of North Andover Youth & Recreation Services since he was in high school. Ted has worked in many different roles at the Youth Center over the last twelve years and has always enjoyed being part of the Youth Center. He is currently working as a part time employee as part of the Fall League Basketball Staff, Summer League Basketball Staff, and a variety of other roles. Ted has always enjoyed working at the Youth Center and has a place in his heart to continue working with the Youth Center staff and the North Andover community.

Ted graduated from North Andover High School and University of Massachusetts Amherst. Ted is currently teaching history at Georgetown High School. He is also coaching basketbakk as the JV Coach at North Andover High School. In his spare time Ted enjoys spending time with his friends and family and watching his favorite sports teams: the Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics.

Andrew  Rollins – Facilities Management Assistant

Andrew Rollins has just joined our team as Facilities Management Assistant. Andrew is 18 years old and is a recent graduate of North Andover High School in June 2011.  He comes to us through a successful vocational program at the High School called Knights at Work.

In his spare time Andrew loves to hang out with his parents and two brothers, listen to hip hop music on his iPod, and he’s currently learning how to play guitar.

Andrew also enjoys participating in sports. His favorites are running track and playing basketball for the North Andover Crusaders.  In addition to his newest gig working at the Youth Center, he is also incredibly excited to become a member of his church’s choir, at St. Patrick’s Parrish – and you should hear him sing Amazing Grace!

Tod Workman -Volunteer Building Supervisor

By day Tod is the senior custodian at the North Andover Middle school but whenever something breaks, the walls need painting, electrical and plumbing issues arise its Tod Workman we call. Tod is a jack of all trades and always wears a smile. A graduate of North Andover High school where he excelled on the championship Wrestling teams in the mid eighties.  Tod is married to Lisa and the father of two young children Leah and Austin.

Don Romano - Volunteer Technical Support

Don's first job is that of a Senior Database Architect at Philips Healthcare.   However, as a "second job" Don tends to various technology support issues at the Youth Center.   Whether it be providing support for broken staff PC's, networking issues, the computer lab, web site support or anything else, Don is available 24 X 7 to assist.

Don has been associated with the Youth Center for over 5 years since becoming a member of the Board of Directors.  Recently, he started a new "Technology Club" at the Youth Center providing members interested in computers something new to enjoy.

Don lives in North Andover and is married to Debbie Romano and has two children in the school system: Alex and Angela.
